Project:
The composition of a large work for Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne based in Montreal and conducted by Lorraine Vaillancourt. The work will be premiered at the "Festival International de Musiques Nouvelles " Drumondville, Quebec in October 1991; it will then be performed on a European tour during the winter 1992, and recorded during the spring of the same year. This piece is eighteen-minutes long and scored for a chamber orchestra of fifteen instruments. Called "Ressac," this one uninterrupted movement utilizes a "flexible structure" that gives a certain freedom to the conductor in the ordering of the main musical sections. Therefore the conductor who is given more than the traditional interpretive freedom chooses the dramatic flow of the piece. |
