Project:
Composition of chamber music. Composition of chamber music. 1) Skyscapes III (16'), a multi-movement work reflecting aspects of the local environment. Scored for flute (doubling alto flute and piccolo), clarinet (doubling bass clarinet), violin, cello, and piano, it is in three sections: Clouds over Cap Canaille, Nightscape (Les Calanques), and Mistral.
2) Consort II (8') for saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone), a work that explores a kind of "deconstruction" of motivic processes and melodic elaboration. In several sections played without pause, it was written for the Prism Saxophone Quartet (premiere Spring 2003.)
3) Tombeau and Tango (6') for two bass violas da gamba, written for the viol consort Parthenia in memory of a friend who died during the residency (premiere August 2002.)
4) Corollary IV (8 ½') for trombone and piano, for New York Philharmonic trombonist Joseph Alessi (premiere scheduled for Italy, August 2002). |
