Project: Revision of a novel manuscript currently titled If You Say Run in which Kerry Packard, a young hotel maid, discovers that her father, a police officer, is guilty of murder. Set in Spokane, Washington in 1984, the novel follows Kerry’s psychological transformation, beginning with her stepmother’s death through the trial. Forced to confront her father’s racist alibi, the story explores the ways in which memory, work, class, and the media inform her self-perception, and ultimately influence the decisions she makes regarding her love toward her father. While at Camargo, the manuscript doubled in length as I expanded on these themes throughout.
